Learning Outcomes

At the end of the training participants will be able to:

· state their obligations and that of their employers with regard to manual  handling

· understand the basic anatomy of the spine

· understand the consequences of poor manual handling practice

· state the actions to be taken in the event of a manual handling manoeuvre being required at their place of work – including assessing the risks

· identify the correct manoeuvre for use on a range of different manual handling situations

1. Housekeeping, Introductions and Learning Outcomes (10 mins)
2. The legal aspects (20 mins)
3. The body and what can go wrong (30 mins)
4. Comfort Break (15 mins)
5. Principles of safe moving and handling (45 mins)
6. Practical session (1 hour)
7. Assessment and certification (15 mins)
8. Course Evaluation and Close
Manual Handling of Loads

Joined-up Training is able to offer a full train the Trainer course in Manual handling. This will support lower costs per organisation in the future and each person then only needs to do an annual update.
